FERRARI 649 1998 TEST CAR!!

PMA (Minichamps) worst kept secret has been released!! This model which has been rumoured on the Internet for nearly a year has finally arrived!! This 1:18 replica is the last of the Ferraris which will be built by this very popular company. The model represents the Ferrari 649 1998 car which was tested in Fiorano Italy at around Christmas by none other than Schumi himself. The car was given its final black paint job on its January 14th launch. It was only tested for less than 10 hours!! Only 6500 units have gone into production, so don't go into snooze mode if you want it!!

Ertl has many new 1:18 models in stock for 1998/99. Amongst them four new motorcycle dioramas. The most awaited one, however is the 1:18 Duesenberg SSJ 1936!!! in Red/Silver and Blue/Grey.


NEW 1:18 RANGE!!

MOTOR CITY CLASSICS is a new 1:18 Range made in China. There are already 3 different models either out or coming very soon! The one here is the Chrysler 1948 Town and Country Convertible #5003. The two other models are: #2001 Ford A deluxe roadster 1931 and #3001 Ford Custom 2-door woody station wagon 1949. The price range will be between $35 and $55

FERRARI SCOOP!!

Mattel's license for making Ferrari Models exclusively is for 5 years. The price was about 110 million DM which is roughly 60 million dollars!! Bburago may still produce Ferrari models till the end of 1999. Some information says that they may be producing them on stock now to sell later! Other manufacturers may have other conditions to stop their production. Mattel wanted Maisto and Bburago to produce the models for them, but both refused!

NEW RESIN 1:18 PROGETTO-K

PROGETTO-K of Italy has planned some 1:18 resin models for 1999 These pics are of the prototypes shown at Nuremberg toy fair. An Autobianchi Cab and a Fiat Topolino 1953. Also planned are other models such as maybe a 1:43 Fiat 850 coupe that might be also made in 1:18 (Photo Schmitt)


Bburago GOING STRONG!

One thing is for sure MATTEL has not bought Bburago but the Ferrari rights from them. Infact they now have world-wide rights to the Ferrari name. One can expect to soon see new Hot Wheels in 1:18 scale!!!!

MATTEL will purchase Bburago. This is a sad news for many Bburago collectors and lovers. Isn't it, however, too early to pass judgment? There is also breaking news about an exclusive Ferrari license to Mattel.

Anson Cover Blown!

A Cadillac LaSalle Club member In Detroit U.S.A was secretly contacted by Anson regarding his 1973 Eldorado Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. Their representative went to the Detroit area to take photographs of his car, plus a standard 1973 convertible, as well as a coupe. All three cars will be reproduced in 1:18 scale, and should be available sometime in 1999.
